Fun Gardening Events in the Triad

Rudbeckia 'Henry Eilers'

This is not a postcard with an artificial blue background.  It is my 7 foot tall ‘Henry Eiler’s’ Rudbeckia opening just in time for our Cut Flower Workshops.  Details about this and many other exciting gardening events are below.  Sign up, mark your calendar, hold the date.

August 8th, 11th & 17th, 9am – noon, My Garden Happy! Cut Flower Workshop.  Learn how to make fabulous fresh flower arrangements to adorn your home (or bring to friends) any time of the year. I will show you how different shapes of containers produce very different looks. We will start outside in the cutting garden and bring our buds into my air-conditioned workshop for arranging.  Everyone will have a bouquet of flowers to take home.  (Also see my 2012 Gardening Course Schedule for Sept and Oct.)

Sept 7-9 and Sept 14-16, 8am- 5pm, Fall Open House at Tony’s Plant Delights Nursery at Juniper Level Botanic Gardens, 9241 Sauls Road, Raleigh, NC. It is not inthe Triad, but if you have never been to this garden, you have missed something really special.  Tony Avent is a nationally recognized plantsman, nurseryman and speaker. Go online to see why this garden is so unique: www.plantdelights.com  No one leaves without a few new plants for their own garden!  If you want to make a day of garden tours, you might also stop in at the J.C.Raulston Arboretum also in Raleigh, or Sarah P. Duke Gardens in Durham.

For a miniscule annual membership fee, anyone can join this very well educated group of garden aficionados.  The monthly guest speakers are excellent.
